Check Out Application Fees For Different Canada Visa

When you apply for a Canada visa, you will have to pay an application fee and any other fees that are necessary for processing. These are otherwise known as Embassy Fees for Canada, but the amount depends on what type of visa you are applying for.

Permanent Residence Fees

The permanent Residence Fees vary from program to program, depending on the immigration you apply for. Although, a Right of Permanent Resident Fees (RPRF) will be paid upon approval of the application. Regardless of the immigration, you applied for, this fee must be paid. In other words, this fee is nonrefundable. However, can be refunded to you when you withdraw your application or the government rejects it. The RPRF is not applicable to the following;

  • Sponsored application for adopted children;
  • Dependent children of the sponsor or applicant;
  • Sponsored application for an orphaned sister, brother, nephew/niece;
  • Protected persons.

The fee, however, costs $490.

There are six types of fees as shown below;

  • Business Immigration Fees

These are grouped into three and the fees apply for all three;

  • Self-employed
  • Quebec Business Immigration
  • Start-up visa.

The Permanent Residence Application fee costs $1540 (it includes the RPRF $490). However,  without the RPRF it will cost $1050. Subsequently, when you apply for spouse/common-law partner it costs $825 without RPRF. Also, for dependent children, it costs $225.

Note: Those applying to certain provincial immigration programs may have to pay additional processing fees as determined by the provincial immigration authority.

  • Economic Immigration Fees

These are fees which apply for;

  • Atlantic immigration pilot;
  • Caregivers;
  • Canadian Experience Class;
  • Federal Skilled Trades;
  • Federal Skilled Workers;
  • Quebec-selected skilled workers;
  • Provincial Nominee;
  • Express Entry.

The Permanent Residence Application fee costs $1040 (it includes the RPRF $490). However,  without the RPRF it will cost $550. Subsequently, when you apply for spouse/common-law partner it costs $550without RPRF. Also, for dependent children, it costs $150.

  • Humanitarian and Compassionate Immigration Fees

The Permanent Residence Application fee costs $1040 (it includes the RPRF $490). However,  without the RPRF it will cost $550. Subsequently, when you apply for spouse/common-law partner it costs $550without RPRF. Also, for dependent children, it costs $150.

  • Protected Person Fees

The Permanent Residence Application fee costs $550. Subsequently, when you apply for spouse/common-law partner it costs $550. Also, for dependent children, it costs $150.

  • Permit Holders Fees

The Permanent Residence Application fee costs $815 (it includes the RPRF $490). However,  without the RPRF it will cost $325.

  • Permanent Resident Card Fees

When you are given permanent residence, you must have a permanent resident card. This card is delivered to you only at an address in Canada and not to an international address. It costs $50.

  • Temporary Residence Fees

Similar to how permanent residence processing fees vary from program to program, temporary resident fees will differ depending on the type of visa. They are given to international visitors to Canada. There are 5 types of visa fees as explained below;

  • Visitor Visa Fee

Application for the visitor visa (including super visa) for single or multiple entries is $100 per person. Also, a family of 5 (must apply at the same time and dependent children below 22 years) for single or multiple entries costs $500. However, all applications must be submitted at the same time. An extension, however, costs $100 per person. Restoring the application costs $200.

  • Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) Fees

Visa-exempt travelers who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents will be subject to a $7 eTA fee. This does not however guarantee entry into Canada.

  • Work Permit Fees

Application for a work permit costs $155 per person (includes extension application). An artist who is 3 or more wishing to apply must apply at the same time and it costs $465. Restoring the permit, however, will cost $355. The open work permit costs $100 per person.

  • Study Permit Fees

Students who come to further their education in Canada will be required to pay some fees. The study permit will cost $150 per person while restoring it will cost $350. Some Schools or Universities in Canada provide student scholarship that covers for transportation and other expenses.

  • Biometrics Fees

Every person submitting the following applications must include fingerprints and a photo. If the Embassy asks for you to submit your biometrics, they will be part of your Canada visa cost.

Biometrics fee per person costs $85, for a family of two or more will cost $170. Also, for a group of artists, it will cost $255.
