The institution was later managed by Mrs. Mary P. Mitchell, and this came about the name “Mitchell School.”
A fire incident damaged the school in 1907, and it relocated to a closeby town – Lenoir, North Carolina. Due to the inadequacy experienced there, the school again moved in 1910, to Misenheimer, its location till date. The Mitchell School started granting high school diplomas in 1913. By 1928 the institution started running junior college classes and was approved as such in 1934.
One year, the Pfeiffer family of New York City donated financial gifts to the school for the construction of new structures. As a result, the name Pfeiffer Junior College was adopted.
There are three graduate campuses at Pfeiffer; the major graduate campus is situated in Charlotte, North Carolina. This campus has been in Charlotte since 1996 and hold serves several hundred students.
